New York In September

Here are two articles about Ahmadinejad's recent trip to Columbia University in September. Do you think that Columbia should have invited him? Why or why not? Is his opinion really that important to listen to instead of ours? How about allowing him into the country with pretty much free reign over where he went and what he did?

The issue of Ahmadinejad in New York is quite complicated. In a country where we value the right to free speech, there was an outcry when he was allowed to speak. I believe that the major issue is not that he is the President of Iran but that, as the President of Iran, he holds some very controversial views. We may not agree with him but does this take away the right of a prestigious university to invite him to speak? I think that although I probably would not go to hear him speak, Columbia University was well within its rights to invite him to speak.
